The Shortie Wetsuit Is Great For Warm Water Diving

Wetsuits come in many different styles and neoprene thicknesses. The type of wetsuit you wear really depends on what kind of diving you want to do, how warm the water is, and how deep you plan on going. Depending on your needs, you could go with a simple rash vest for very warm and shallow waters to a thick 6MM wetsuit complete with a hood and gloves for colder waters. One type of wetsuit that can be considered general purpose is the shortie wetsuit.

A shortie is a wetsuit style that covers the diver's torso, upper arms, and thighs. Shorties are one piece units that leave the forearms and calves uncovered. Having some skin exposed is not always a bad thing. By leaving parts of your arms and legs completely free, you will be able to swim and move around in the water better than you otherwise would if they were covered. A shortie wetsuit lets you hold in body heat while having greater movement in the water. Shorties are very comfortable to wear and are great for many different water sports, not just scuba diving.

The good news about shorties is that they are very affordable. Depending on brand, you can expect to pay anywhere from $50 to $100 for a good model. Because shorties are so affordable and versatile, a person is sure to get his or her money's worth out of their new wetsuit if it is used for a variety of activities.

Shortie wetsuits are made by every company that makes wetsuits. Just a few popular brands include Body Glove, O'Neill, Xcel, Neo Sport, Blue Seventy, Performance, and others. Some common features found on many shorties include interior key pockets, heavy duty zippers, velcro closures around the neck, arms, and legs, and others. And of course, shorties are available for men, women, and children.
